Rakuten Securities was founded in 1999 and has since then grown to become a global brand in the retail brokerage industry with a very large customer base from all over the world. The broker offers fixed spread trading on forex and CFDs via the MetaTrader 4 platform. They provide important trading tools, such as Autochartist and social trading solutions via ZuluTrade and MyFxBook.

The broker operated the market maker model of order execution because their order volume is so high that they can serve as their own liquidity provider. However, the broker affirms that they don’t act as counterparty to client orders.

Rakuten Securities Platforms & Tools
Rakuten Securities provides clients with only the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) platform, which is the most widely used platform among forex and CFD traders. The platform features 3 chart styles, 9 timeframes, 30 built-in technical indicators that can be expanded with custom indicators, 24 analytical objects, 4 pending order types, one-click trading, notifications, live quotes, and support for automated trading using Expert Advisors (EAs).

The broker makes the platform available as a downloadable Windows desktop application and mobile trading apps for Android and iOS devices. Mac OSX users are advised to contact the support team for assistance on how to install MT4 on their systems. The mobile trading apps don’t have all the features as the desktop version, but they have enough features to enable place and manage orders on the go.

In addition to the tools in the platform, the broker provides clients with other tools, such as Market News, Myfxbook, ZuluTrade, AutoChartist, Market Report, and VPS.

Currently, there are no educational resources on the broker’s website. The ‘Learn’ section of the website states that Rakuten is putting together educational materials to assist traders.

Rakuten Securities Trading Accounts
The broker offers only two account types, which are based on leverage. You can open an account with just $50. The spread is fixed with no commissions on all accounts, but the spreads may increase during news releases. Here are the account types:
- Standard Account: It has a maximum leverage of 1:100, and the spread for the benchmark EURUSD currency pair is 0.5 pips
- High Leverage Account: It has a maximum leverage of 1:400, and the spread for the benchmark EURUSD currency pair is 0.8 pips.
Islamic accounts are available on request, and there are demo accounts for practice purposes.

Rakuten accepts a variety of payment methods for deposits and withdrawals, and they include bank wire, credit/debit cards, Bitcoin, and online payment processors, such as Skrill and Neteller. Transaction fees and processing time vary with the method used.
