In this post I will be reviewing the Trend Hunter Robot. This is a forex expert advisor (EA) that has been developed to automatically trade on your behalf in the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) or MetaTrader 5 (MT5) desktop platform. It can scan the charts for trading signals and manage positions without any user intervention required. However, there are some key things to look out for if you are considering the Trend Hunter Robot or any other forex robot for that matter.
This is yet another forex robot from the LeapFX team whose other forex software I have previously reviewed, including Funnel Trader, Trade Explorer, AX Trader, DynaScalp, News Action Trader, Jet Trader Pro, Gold Trader, Arbitron, Econ Power Trader, Automic Trader, Auto Arb, Fund Trader, Easy Money X-Ray Robot, Skilled Trader, Pattern Trader Pro, The Money Tree Robot, Wave Scalper EA, Quick Scalp Trader EA, Dax Day Trader and InstantEA. You can tell from the vast number of forex products that they have available they certainly have some experience. However, many years in the forex industry has taught me that does not exactly equal results.
In this Trend Hunter Robot Review, I will take a closer look at the trading strategy that the software uses, along with back tests and most importantly, any real live verified results provided by the developer. Hopefully this will help you to decide if this is an automated trading solution that you would like to use on your account or pass on.
Trend Hunter Robot Trading Strategy
In terms of trading strategy, the Trend Hunter Robot uses a trend trading strategy which aims to capture big moves across multiple currency pairs. Whilst this does mean it can catch some long-lasting trends, it does also mean that the expert advisor can get whipped in and out of ranging markets which can lead to a run of consecutive losing trades.
The Trend Hunter Robot does have some filters built-in to help try and prevent this from happening, but I do not think they can analyse the markets in the way that the human eye can. If I was to use this particular forex robot, I would personally only be looking to activate it when I can clearly see a trend forming, which sort of defeats the purpose of having a “100% automated trading system”.
The Trend Hunter Robot can be used by beginners as it comes with default settings that the LeapFX team have already optimised for the recommended currency pairs. If you wanted to use it straight out of the box, you will still need to adjust the lot size accordingly. This is because every forex trader has a different risk preference so the defaults may not be suitable for you.
Traders are also free to experiment with any of the other Trend Hunter Robot settings. You could always run optimisations in the MetaTrader strategy tester to try and develop your own unique combination of settings for the financial instruments and chart timeframes that you are interested in trading.
That being said, I think the EUR/USD currency pair would be my choice if I was to use this forex robot. That is because it tends to have lots of trading volume which can lead to some big trends forming. I would opt for an ECN broker with tight spreads and low fees, such as IC Markets. They have some of the best trading conditions for automated trading systems in my opinion. This includes deep liquidity pools for executing trades at some of the best prices available on the forex market at all times.

Trend Hunter Robot Back Testing
I am disappointed to see that the LeapFX have not even provided any Trend Hunter Robot back tests. Granted, verified results are better, but long-term back tests across multiple currency pairs and timeframes could have given us a clearer indication of how the EA has performed historically speaking. The fact that LeapFX have been around for so long and would certainly have the required knowledge to conduct 99% modelling quality back tests, does leave a lot to be desired. However, they have shared live results to be fair to them, which we will take a look at in the next section.
Trend Hunter Robot Results
It is always good to see a robot developer share real verified results as it helps give us an indication of how a forex robot has been performing during the current market conditions. Whilst LeapFX have provided us with verified Trend Hunter Robot results, they have not been updated for a while now which raises a red flag from my perspective. Granted, the Trend Hunter Robot EA was doing well whilst it was running on the account, albeit the drawdown wasn’t the lowest I have seen. Without any up to date verified results, we really have no way to judge the latest performance of this particular forex robot. For that reason, you may want to consider an alternative option that does have recent results, the Forex Flex EA being worth a look. Trend Hunter Robot Summary
Overall, there could be some potential with the Trend Hunter Robot as it does tick a few boxes. I like that it is a trend trading strategy as the old saying goes, “the trend is your friend”. The Trend Hunter Robot Myfxbook account was doing OK before LeapFX stopped updating it which does raise a few unanswered questions. I also feel there is significant room for improvement when it comes to back tests, which are lacking completely.
The Trend Hunter Robot does come with detailed setup instructions that include handy annotated screenshots to help you get setup. You also get access to free updates for life, full support and a money back guarantee. I think there are better forex robots out there, including Forex Robotron, but you could always test the Trend Hunter Robot on a demo account if you are curious to see what it can do without taking any risk.
