TopTrend Strategy
TopTrend plots dynamic support/resistance levels using a 20-period MA with a variance of 2.0. During uptrend markets, it draws a blue line beneath price candles to illustrate the present bullish market’s trendline support. During a downturn, a red line above the candles represents the resistance level. As a result, examining whether the indicator draws a support or resistance line on the chart is a simple technique to determine the current market trend situation. Once you’ve received trend confirmation, you can prepare for a forthcoming buy/sell order in two ways. To begin, you can wait for a price retracement to the S/R levels before entering on the pullback inside the current trend direction. Second, you may seek a price breakout at a support/resistance level or to ride a brand new trend. After placing an order, you may aim to hold your buy or sell position until the price breaks through the current S/R level. For example, if you have a buy order, you may consider collecting profit immediately after the price breaks through the present support level.
Buy Signal
The following could be your checklist for a buy trade:
- When the asset being traded is up trending.
- When price is trading above the blue indicator line.
Once these events occur:
- You could open a buy position after you confirm your entry with bullish candlestick patterns.
- You could set your stop loss just below the nearest swing low.
- You could set your take profit at the nearest resistance zone, or you could exit trade when price hits the indicator’s red line above.
- For good risk management, I would only consider trades with a risk to reward ratio of at least 1:2.

Sell Signal
The following could be your checklist for a sell trade:
- When the asset being traded is down trending.
- When price is trading below the red indicator line.
Once these events occur:
- You could open a sell position after you confirm your entry with bearish candlestick patterns.
- You could set your stop loss just above the nearest swing high.
- You could set your take profit at the nearest support zone, or you could exit trade when price hits the indicator’s blue line below.
- For good risk management, I would only consider trades with a risk to reward ratio of at least 1:2.

TopTrend Pros & Cons

Cons
- The TopTrend Indicator may not meet the trader’s expectations in a narrow-ranging market on smaller timeframes.

Conclusion
Despite the fact that TopTrend is a trend-based price level indicator, it charts a trading method that guides you through various technical elements such as trend signals, breakout levels, entry-exit zones, and so on. TopTrend is admired by beginners for its traditional and easy depiction of both prospective price levels and general market trend conditions at the same time. However, it may produce contradictory indications during market downturns.
